DisplayPort Not Working on Windows 10? Working Fixes for Dell, HP, Sceptre, and NVIDIA

If your DisplayPort port on your laptop or desktop is not working, then there are multiple things that could cause this issue, including an improperly connected power cord, damaged ports, or a corrupted driver. This article will show you how to diagnose and fix the problem.

There’s no need to panic if your DisplayPort display doesn’t show anything when you connect to your device. In this article, we will discuss a few options you could use to fix the DisplayPort not working on Windows 10.

These fixes work for most Dell, HP, Samsung, LG and most other monitors.

Fix 1. Disable power saving on Dell

It’s possible that the DisplayPort feature isn’t working on your Dell machine because the monitor soft boots, resulting in a dysfunctional DP.

This could be a software / hardware issue, so we’re going to take a look at both the operating system and computer in this post.

To fix DisplayPort not working on Dell, open the On-Screen Display >> press the Menu button to go to Display >> select Power Saving >> Turn it OFF >> Save and Exit the On-Screen

While this fixes has been tested and found to work on Dell and HP monitors, you may want to try it on your machine to see if it works.

Fix 2. Unplug the cord

Another fix to try out on Dell machines is to: Connect both DisplayPort and HDMI cables to the monitor; Start Windows with HDMI Mode; make the switch to DP via the OSD (you’ll see no message, just sleep mode and black screen); remove the power cord from the monitor (don’t use the switch); wait for some time; Re-insert the power cable and Restart.

Fix 3. Update GPU BIOS and drivers

Another way to fix the problem is to update the BIOS of the GPU.

We had to use a GTX 970 after we updated the drivers.

If it does, you don’t need to touch the drivers.

When the BIOS upgrade didn’t work for us, we replaced the NVIDIA drivers, then we installed a monitor driver.

You should use NVIDIA’s Graphics Firmware update tool for DisplayPort.

Fix 4: Checking NVIDIA control panel settings

Another way to fix the problem is to update the BIOS of the GPU.

We had to use a GTX 970 after we updated the drivers.

If it does, you don’t need to touch the drivers.

Fix 5: Swap the DisplayPort Cord

If none of these has fixed the DisplayPort Not Working on Windows 10 issue, then you should try playing around with the cord, the monitor, and the computer, because any one of these three could potentially be causing these issues.

You could try using a different monitor, with the same DP cable and computer. If it works the same, try testing the monitor and cable with another computer, and if that doesn’t work, try swapping the cable with a different one to see if that fixes the problem for you.

Fix 6: Rollback updates and/or change the refresh rate

If you’ve recently updated the software that controls your Amazon store, we recommend rolling back the update to see if something is broken by the update.

You would also want to change the refresh rate on your monitor to see if it works.

Roll back the driver update by clicking Properties >> select the Driver tab >> if there is an option to roll back, click it.

Fix 7: Update the driver from the manufacturer’s website

If you don’t have a DisplayPort video connector, but you do have an HDMI video connector, here is how you can resolve the issue: Search for the Model and OS compatible driver >> Search for the Model and OS compatible driver >> Download and uninstall the old Intel graphics driver >> Install the newly downloaded driver >> Restart your PC.

How to Update DisplayPort driver Windows 10

Some users of Nvidia graphics cards have complained of displays flickering while they use the latest graphics card.

Since the problem is so difficult to solve that no driver can solve it, this company is releasing a new graphics card firmware update that will completely solve the issue.

Download the utility called Nvidia DisplayPort Firmware Updater, which will help you improve your laptop display.

Run the exe file and install it. Remember to plug in your power source to update the firmware.

Here are fixes that will work if you have this issue.

Fix 1: Install the monitor drivers if needed

Fix 9: Update Your Graphics Driver

First, connect your computer to the Internet
Open your Windows Start menu and type and search Device Manager
Open your Device Manager.

Expand Display Adapters. Right-click your Display Adapter, then select Properties.
Click on the Driver tab, and check for updates. If you’re connected to the Internet, you’ll get the latest drivers from Windows Update.

The computer is telling you to make sure your computer has the latest drivers installed.

How to Enable DisplayPort

Open the computer’s BIOS. This should display all the essential settings for your computer.
Look for the advanced tab and lock on it.
Under IGP, look for MULTIPLE DISPLAY.
